can use a tanning bed to start the flowers / seeds garden vegetable plants?

My dad and I just cleaned a room for a bed for my daughter that my mother had hidden and had a tanning bed there. only the top of the tanning bed and runs and gets hot. We love gardening and the question came to us: “Would it work to start seeds and plants grow?” Think it would be best grow lights, but not sure what the real differance?? So If you know of an answer for us it would be great! we were planning to use in conjunction with grow lights …. turn on the tanning bed for an hour a day of intense heat and direct light

As people get a little fried if you stay under a tanning bed too long, I fear your plants are not well Fayre. Also, do not think these things are designed to remain on 24 / 7 – could be a fire hazzard, not to mention Lecky bill through the roof. Go to center

I think tanning beds and plant lights don ‘t emit the same light spectrum. You could try some low-cost plants as zinnias and see what happens. This is a very interesting question.
